Adam Chen is a specialist Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) surgeon based in Auckland, practicing at Southern Cross Gillies Hospital. He earned his medical degree at the University of Otago in 2011, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy and a Master’s in Medical Science, with research focused on the role of probiotics in managing ear infections in children.
Adam completed his specialist training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at major hospitals across New Zealand and was awarded his Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2023. He pursued further subspecialty fellowship training in lateral skull base and cochlear implant surgery in Christchurch.
With a particular interest in ear surgery, Adam has expertise in cochlear implantation and the management of complex ear and skull base conditions. He is experienced in the full spectrum of ENT surgery and is dedicated to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care for both adult and pediatric patients.
In addition to his clinical work, Adam is actively involved in research and teaching. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international conferences, and regularly instructs medical students and junior doctors.
Adam prioritizes clear communication and compassionate care, striving to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients. Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his family and exploring the outdoors.
